COUNCIL planning chiefs have launched an investigation into a raft of complaints from residents about an Alsager trading estate.

Cheshire East Council says it is in discussion with the owner at Excalibur Industrial Trading Estate about the number of CCTV cameras installed on site. It is also looking into light pollution issues after residents complained their homes were being illuminated by the glare of floodlights.

CHESHIRE East has been moved into the highest risk category, tier four, by Health Secretary Matt Hancock, as he placed millions more people under tougher coronavirus restrictions.

Mr Hancock told the Commons this afternoon (Wednesday) that with cases rising sharply and hospitalisations increasing the government had to "demonstrate the need to act where the virus is spreading".

ALSAGER will join other Cheshire East towns in moving to the tier three, 'very high', level of coronavirus restrictions on Boxing Day, the health secretary has announced.

The increased restrictions mean that all hospitality businesses will be forced to close or be restricted to takeaway services only.
