RESIDENTS can have their say about plans to ban motorists on a level crossing near Alsager.
The changes proposed by Network Rail at Barthomley level crossing will see it closed to motorists to make it safer for pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists.

An Alsager town councillor has criticised Cheshire East's decision to approve a temporary remote compound at land opposite the town's existing water treatment plan, which will see 10m of hedgerow removed to construct a temporary access to the site.
The site is part of a field opposite the Alsager Wastewater Treatment Works on Hassall Road.

Alsager ward councillors are set to have an extra £4,200 at their disposal to tackle issues like potholes from April.
As part of the Cheshire East 2021/22 budget, Cllr David Marren proposed an amendment to the finance plans which would see each member given 'at least £4,200' to tackle highway maintenance issues in their area.
A 35-year-old man from Alsager has been jailed after breaking into a pensioner's home in the town and assaulting him.
Paul McMillan, of Crewe Road, pleaded guilty to burglary and assaulting a person and causing them actual bodily harm.

RESIDENTS will have to pay 4.99 per cent more council tax from April, after Cheshire East councillors approved a new budget for the upcoming year, despite an Alsager ward councillor voicing it "will hit many people very hard in the pocket".
The budget, formally known as the Medium Term Financial Strategy, sets out the council's tax and spending plans from 2021 to 2025.
