Having a stroke can be a life-changing moment but members of a group in Alsager are putting it behind themselves and helping each other.

The Courtyard Cafe was the venue for the group's afternoon tea event

Stroke Survivors Speech Language Support Group set up a branch in Alsager in May this year.

And the group, which meets every Thursday at the Thirteen Club in Cedar Avenue, an off-shoot of the Crewe one, is going from strength to strength.

To celebrate their progress and to get together, they organised afternoon tea at the Courtyard Café at Hall Farm Shop in Alsager on Wednesday afternoon (September 1st).

Members enjoyed sandwiches and cakes plus tea and coffee in the sumptuous setting.

Ex-Bentley employee, John Wenlock-Smith and his wife Susan help run the Alsager group.

Susan said: "It's going really well. We have a steady group of regular people and it's working out well.

"We have had people ringing up after seeing the stories about the group in Alsager Nub News.

"It's a great support network for anyone who has had a stroke."

Staff at The Courtyard Cafe in Alsager served up a delicious afternoon tea for the group

The group and its Crewe branch, recently launched a new-look more 'user-friendly' website.

The Alsager group meets on Thursdays between 10.30 am and 12 noon at the Thirteen Club in Cedar Avenue.
