Thursday, 22nd January

Alsager Wellness Rooms in Crewe Road has a six-week course on an introduction to strength training.

It started last week and runs from 12.30 pm until 1.15 pm and runs for six weeks.

In this small-group setting (4-6 people), you'll learn the foundations of effective strength training, with a focus on proper technique in all the key movements.

Resistance bands, bodyweight exercises and small equipment will be used to help build full-body strength, and confidence. This class is perfect for anyone who wants build their strength in a safe supportive environment.

Friday, 23 January

Looking for some New Year reading? Alsager Book Emporium in Hassall Road is open 10 am – 2 pm. Plenty of books to buy, many of them brand new so you can curl up in front of the fire with a cuppa!

Saturday, 24 January

Alsager Civic has a film and Q&A session, 'Freedom to Run' documenting the journey of Scottish runners in Palestine.

Screening of a film about life under occupation in Palestine explored through Palestinian and Scottish runners who run Palestine and Edinburgh marathons together. After the film we will run a Q&A session with the directors of the film via Zoom where viewers will be allowed to ask questions.

There will be a cafe and bar on site serving drinks and refreshements to purchase. Tickets available here

Sunday, 25 January

Looking to plan your 2026 holiday but need a bit of help? Local travel specialist Sara Dickenson of Fifth Element Travel will be At Home Coffee & Studio in Lawton Road for a morning of informal travel chats – this week focusing on adventure holidays for families, couples and solo travellers alike.

"For many people, the idea of an adventure holiday is appealing, but also slightly daunting. From navigating unfamiliar destinations to figuring out where to start, it's often the planning that puts people off before they've even booked anything," says Sara who lives in Alsager.

Church Lawton is paying homage to the famous Scottish poet on his birthday. The event will celebrate the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scottish poems.

The Lawton Arms at Church Lawton is holding a Burns Night special with haggis, neeps and tatties, finished with a rich Rob Roy sauce! It's served from 12 noon until 4.30 pm. Sunday lunch menu also available and live music from folk trio, Twangers & Bash, from 5pm
