A town councillor has urged Cheshire East to provide a Saturday bus service in Alsager which would allow residents to get to hospital appointments in Crewe directly.

Speaking at yesterday's cabinet meeting, Alsager Town Councillor, Sue Helliwell, called on Cheshire East to introduce a Saturday service for the 317-bus which runs from Alsager to Leighton Hospital.

A controversial active travel scheme implemented in Alsager last summer has been scrapped by Cheshire East following a review.

Cheshire East received £155,000 from the Department of Transport's Emergency Active Travel Fund, which led to eight emergency active travel projects being installed across eight Cheshire East towns in August.
