A teenager from Alsager scored on his debut for Stoke City in a 2-0 win against promotion chasing AFC Bournemouth earlier today (Saturday, 8th May).

Nineteen-year-old William Forrester put the Potters ahead in the 36th minute with a right-footed strike into the bottom right corner.

Playing away to the Cherries on the final day of the Championship season, the centre-back was instrumental in shutting out the Premier League hopefuls.

With Michael O'Neil's side struggling with a number of injuries, Forrester has been promoted to the first-team bench over the last couple of months.

Forrester, who has been at the club since the age of six, was rewarded with a new 18-month contract in February following his impressive development over the last couple of campaigns.

After a dream debut, Forrester will be targeting a starting berth in O'Neil's first-team selection of the 2021/22 Championship season.
