The much-anticipated installation of a zebra crossing on a busy Alsager road is due to be carried out during the February half-term period next year.

Cheshire East Council plans to install a zebra crossing on Crewe Road, near the junction with Cranberry Lane, using both section 106 money from the housing developments at Goss Place and from the Sustainable Modes of Transport to School fund.

David Wilson Homes North West has donated £500 worth of cleaning and care products to Alsager and District Foodbank to assist the organisation throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Based in Alsager, close to the housebuilder's Scholar Place development on Hassall Road, the foodbank has been running since 2013 as part of the Alsager Community Support Centre and Alsager Community Church.

For the next week, The Wilbraham Arms in Alsager will be providing free lunches for any child who would normally receive free school meals.

The pub, located on Sandbach Road North, made the announcement via their Facebook page: "We know times are tough for everybody at the moment, and with half term coming up and the news surrounding free school meals, we would like to take the opportunity to say that we do not want to see children go hungry.
