Public transport users and drivers are being urged to think carefully before they travel – and travel only if necessary – as the region prepares for Storm Eunice.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning ahead of the storm's arrival between 3am and 9pm today (Friday) with extremely strong winds expected as well as snow in some areas.

Cheshire East Council is reminding businesses to come forward and take advantage of the recently opened Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant scheme.

The deadline for organisations to apply for this grant is midnight on Friday March 18th and the council urges businesses to see whether they can apply for the funding as soon as possible.

Health chiefs have praised an unsung army of volunteers for their dedicated ongoing support for Cheshire's Covid-19 vaccination programme.

More than 550 volunteers supported Cheshire's Covid-19 vaccination teams in 2021, providing tens of thousands of hours of both clinical and non-clinical support.

Cheshire East Council is working to support the response to two confirmed outbreaks of avian influenza in Cheshire West and Chester.

The outbreaks are in premises close to the border with Cheshire East, near Aldersley and near Tarporley.

It's dusk and a group of volunteers are pulling on their boots, gloves and Hi-Viz jackets, picking up their buckets and fishing nets and heading for the country lanes.

The weather is mild, between 6oC and 11 oC and the roads are wet as it's just rained but that doesn't matter for these are the perfect conditions for the annual toad mating season and the volunteers are ready.
