A 10-year-old Alsager youngster has written a book about her beloved pug dog and published it with the help of her mum.

Talented Amora Wheeler was walking to school with her mum and dog, Chopper, when she started thinking about adventures he could go on.

The creative thoughts became a reality when the wordsmith put pen to paper and started holding weekly board meetings about the plan.

Six months later, the clever pet lover from Lawton Road is about to launch the book – 'The Pug Parade and the Missing Sausages' which features many messages.

Amora wanted to feature underrepresented groups in the book as well as covering four key messages – friendship, diversity, kindness and equality.

The foreword of the book contains a touching message:

"To our beloved pug, Chopper, who inspired our main character and to all of you who may find yourselves represented in our story.

"We hope with all our hearts that we make your journey through life a little easier."

Chopper who the main character is based on.

She held "board" meetings once a week with her mum, Alisha Lawton, to discuss the book and put the ideas and story board into real life.

And this Saturday (November 26th), Amora will be launching the book at a Kidsgrove Cricket Club from 12 noon until 2 pm.

"It's a wonderful book full of childhood humour with some key messages," said Alisha.

"Amora's aunt has a cochlear implant so one of the characters has this and we have linked up with an organisation promoting this.

"There are very few books featuring children with two mums so we feature this as well. We felt it was important to feature underrepresented groups."

Amora's dog, Chopper, loves sausages and these are featured in The Pug Parade with a 'fountain' of sausages appearing at one point.

"We were cooking sausages for breakfast one day and it was obvious Chopper wanted one," said Amora, an avid reader.

"We gave him one and then that was it. Sausages are now his favourite food although he's not allowed them very often."

Amora also incorporated the Pride badge into the book as well as Chopper's cut bowtie.

"The book has many positive messages and we're so proud of Amora and what she's achieved.

"Doing this has taught her so many new skills and we've already started planning the second one.

"It's given Amora so much confidence and we're so excited about the book launch."

The book will be published on Amazon and Amora and her mum have had stickers and a display board printed for the launch.
