Former teachers of the 12-year-old Alsager boy who lost his life hillwalking in Scotland with his dad have paid tribute to him.

Members of staff from Cranberry Academy Primary School where Richie Parry attended before joining Alsager School have signed a book of condolence.

And two members of Alsager School have displayed a signed football for the soccer keen Richie with famous sayings such as "Sir, is the astro turf open?" on the table near the book of condolence in the church.

St Mary's Magdalene Church has opened a book of condolence in memory of Tom Parry, 49, and Richie Parry, 12 who were from Alsager.

Vicar of St Mary's, Rev Michelle Goodrich, said: "Whether you were blessed to have known Tom and Richie or not, it is impossible not to be moved by their tragic and unexpected deaths.

"As their family endeavours to come to terms with their loss and their lives without them, we invite you (with the family's consent) to share your memories, your thoughts and your prayers with them in this book.

"We pray that your words will support them and remind them that they are not alone at this incredibly challenging time."
