Alsager is gearing up for a major event this weekend – the town's carnival.

Organisers are busy adding the finishing touches to preparations for Saturday's carnival (June 8th) and those taking part in the annual parade through town are checking their costumes.

The parade theme this year is D-Day to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the pivotal moment in WW2, the day soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy.

Organisers have released details of the parade which will assemble in front of Asda on Fairview car park leaving at 12 noon.

The parade assembles in front of Asda on the main car park on Saturday morning ready to leave at 12noon

It will then make its way to the traffic lights outside Dominos and turn right towards Bank corner then right at the lights into Sandbach Road North to Lodge Road.

It will then go along Lodge Road and left into Church Road towards The Lodge then left then onto the main road and into Milton Park.

Road closures will be in place between 11.30 am and 1pm and organisers have asked motorists to bear this in mind if they live on or plan to use roads affected.

An array of activities will take place in Milton Park, including the annual fun dog show raising funds for Alsager Animals in Need.

It will cost £2 per entry and Carl May, Veterinary Nurse and Practice Owner at Alsager Vets for Pets, will judge entries.
