An Alsager pub is throwing open the doors for a birthday party this weekend – to celebrate a major milestone. .

It's 11 years since licensee Charlie Charlesworth took over The Mere Inn in Crewe Road and he's throwing a party to celebrate.

There will be live music and a DJ at the 'birthday bash' from 3 pm on Saturday (June 8th) and Charlie and his staff are hoping to see as many people there as possible.

"It feels like a milestone and we wanted to do something to celebrate," said Charlie. "We were going to have a party last year but then it was the Champions League final.

"We want to thank all our customers who have supported us through the challenging times of Covid and afterwards."

Charlie took over the helm of the Joules pub 11 years ago and has added his knowledge and business acumen to the popular pub.

"It's what I would call timeless," said Charlie previously here

"We wanted to create a warm atmosphere with great products and that's what we've done.

Charlie has a degree in Business Studies, was deputy manager at Sandbach's Old Hall, as well as working at Rookery Hall near Nantwich and The Swan at Tarporley before taking on The Mere Inn.

"When the tenancy came up for The Mere Inn, I jumped at it," said Charlie. "I'd always wanted to run my own pub and thought that one was perfect."

On Saturday (June 8th) he will be joining the team for the party which starts at 3 pm as detail in our What's On Guide here

There will be two lots of live music and a DJ. From 5 pm - 7 pm, saxophonist Luke Leger is live and from 8.30 pm until 10.30 pm Amen Brother are playing.
