Care home team jump for joy after completing a daring skydive to help fund a once-in-a-lifetime trip for children
By Deborah Bowyer 18th Aug 2026
Two local women with a passion for putting others first have completed a daring skydive to help send 75 children on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Florida.
Katie Westwick and Jodi Corbishley regularly visit Lovett Care's Twyford House Care Home in Alsager as part of their roles as head of marketing and regional manager.
Jodi and Katie joined the senior leadership team from Newcastle-under-Lyme Lovett Care to support Destination Florida, a charity that creates life-changing experiences for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
And the team not only did the skydive at Black Knights Skydiving Centre in Lancaster they did it from an even greater height - 15,000 ft instead of the original 11,000ft. Donations for the sponsored skydive can be made here
Katie said: "Everybody had a blast - although nerves were high we always kept the reason for doing this in our minds and that helped us through.

"It's the scariest thing I've ever done but so worthwhile. We were asked if we wanted to go to 15,000 ft which we agreed to do.
"The views were amazing and the weather was warm which helped. We breathed a sigh of relief when we landed on the ground watched by our supporters including the CEO of Lovett Care.
"It was an amazing experience and one I will always remember. Our aim was to raise £5,000 and we've already raised £8,440 with more events to come.
"Everything we do will make a big difference to not only these children but also their families."
Katie said previously: "For some of us, jumping out of a plane was well outside our comfort zone, but it's nothing compared to the challenges these children and their families face every day.
"Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Destination Florida continue creating unforgettable experiences for children and provide vital support for the families who love and care for them."
Every two years, Destination Florida organises a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Florida for around 75 children from across the North of the UK, giving them the opportunity to make unforgettable memories, build confidence and enjoy experiences they may never otherwise have.

Lovett Care has pledged to raise £5,000 to support this cause and has also planned other fundraising activities throughout the year.
Katie, who has worked at Lovett Care for nearly two years and was recently appointed to head of marketing, maintains the Lovett ethic of putting people at the heart of all she does and thoroughly enjoys her role.
