Rode Hall Silver Band is 190 years old next year (2027) and now organisers have launched an appeal to fill in the gaps of some of its missing history.

A spokesperson for the band, one of the oldest in the country said: "Although the band has been part of the local community for nearly two centuries, there are still gaps in its story — particularly its early years from 1837 onwards — and we're hoping that local people can help us uncover more.

"Perhaps your parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, uncle or neighbour was a member? Did you or someone in your family used to play in the band? Do you have an old photograph tucked away in an album or perhaps an old newspaper cutting, programme or article.

"Alternatively, do you have any band memorabilia or perhaps you simply have a memory or story about the band that has been passed down through your family?

"We'd love to hear from anyone who might have something to contribute, particularly anything from the early years, its connection to the Wilbraham family, The Astbury and Lawton Friendly Institution and how it developed into the band headed up by the local Pierpoint family in the later part of the 19th Century.

"Even the smallest detail — a name, date, photograph, story or memory — could help us piece together the history of the band and understand how it developed over the years."

"Please share this with anyone who may have a connection with the band, particularly people from Odd Rode, Scholar Green, Rode Heath, Mow Cop and the surrounding areas. We'd be delighted to hear from you."
