The school where a 12-year-old Alsager boy attended has paid homage to him after he died while hillwalking with his dad in Scotland.

And a church in the town has opened a book of condolence following the deaths of Tom and Richie Parry.

Alsager Nub News told here how Police Scotland had confirmed that they had found two bodies.

The family of father and son Tom Parry, 49, and Richie Parry, 12, who had been reported missing in the area, had been made aware.

Andrea O'Neill, Headteacher at Alsager School said: "We are all devastated by the tragic death of Richie Parry and his father, Tom.

"Richie was in our Year 7, and was the most thoughtful, kind and gentle young boy - a ray of sunshine.

"We send our thoughts and condolences to Richie's mum, brother, family and friends.

"Our school counsellor and youth workers from our local churches will be in school next week to support pupils and staff."

Meanwhile St Mary's Magdalene Church has opened a book of condolence.

The church said: "Whether you knew Tom and Richie personally or not, many in our community have been deeply saddened to hear the devastating news of their sudden deaths.

"And whilst here at St. Mary's we acknowledge that their deaths are not the only ones felt in our community this week, we do recognise that theirs are the most publicly announced across national TV, tabloid and radio.

"Therefore, with the family's approval, A book of Condolence will be available for you to sign, and for you to pass on your thoughts, prayers, and any memories you have of both Tom and Richie.

"We pray that your words will support their family and friends, and remind them that they are not alone at this incredibly challenging time.

"St. Mary's is generally open from 8:30am - 4pm Monday - Saturday, and 9:30 - 12:30 noon on a Sunday."
