Alsager is today coming to terms with the death of two of its residents, a father and son, who went missing while hillwalking in Glencoe.

Police Scotland have confirmed that they found two bodies and the family of father and son Tom Parry, 49, and Richie Parry, 12, who had been reported missing in the area, have been made aware.

An Alsager business where Mr Parry worked, The Senate Group in Crewe Road, has issued a statement.

It said: "All of us at the Senate Group are devastated to have heard the tragic news about Tom and his son Richie today.

"Tom was a remarkable team member and friend who was exceptionally hard working and dedicated to his role.

"He made consistently excellent contributions to our team that we greatly valued by all of us.

"He will be enormously missed by all of the Senate team and also by our customers.

"We send our sincere condolences for the loss of Tom and Richie to their family, along with our thoughts and prayers."

St Mary Magdalene Church in Alsager is open for anyone wishing to say prayers for the family.

Rev Michelle Goodrich said: "Alsager is such a close knit community. This is such sad news."

St Mary's said on Social Media: "We at St Mary's offer our sincerest condolences and prayers for all their family, friends and neighbours and for all who are now coming to terms with this shocking and devastating news.

"St Mary's will continue to be open, as it is every day, for anyone who wishes to come in and peacefully hold Tom, Richie and all their family in their thoughts and prayers."
