Residents living in the East ward go to the polls today (Thursday) - to decide on a new town councillor.

The town's smallest form of local government seeks a new representative in the East ward.

Four candidates have put their names into the hat.

In alphabetical order they are:

  • Harding, Charlotte Laura (Green Party)
  • Wakelin, Margaret (Labour Partry)
  • Whittaker-Large, Wendy (Reform UK)
  • Williams, Philip (Liberal Democrats)

Voters will need to show photo ID to vote. Residents are advised to make sure they are ready to vote by checking they have an acceptable form of ID.

Accepted forms of ID include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a UK, EEA or Commonwealth drivers' licence; and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person's bus pass. Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.

Good luck to all candidates taking part today (June 5th).
