Furious residents have slammed recent work carried out to resurface a busy Alsager town centre road.

They have complained about poorly sealed drains, dimples on the road surface and ridges in the road.

Now an Alsager councillor has asked Cheshire East Council if an inspection is taking place and when this will happen.

Alsager Nub News told here how micro resurfacing was being carried out on part of Lawton Road in Alsager.

Councillor Rod Fletcher has emailed Cheshire East Council saying: "Micro resurfacing was carried out on Lawton Road, Alsager last week.

"People are complaining about poorly sealed drains, dimples in the road surface, and ridges in the road.

"Can you please advise when an inspection will be taking place and any corrective action that may be required?

"This is going to be discussed at the Alsager Town Council planning meeting this Tuesday."

Cllr Fletcher added: "There have been many complaints about the long-awaited resurfacing on Lawton Road

"There are issues and therefore it is important for Cheshire East to advise when the work will be inspected and what corrective measures will be required.

"I am disappointed that having lobbied for resurfacing improvements on Lawton Road for many years the public are unhappy with the end product."

Signs went up before the work took place near Lawton Road to say the road will be closed between 9 am and 3 pm from next Monday (July 7th) until Wednesday (July 9th).

The signs said "advance warning road closed here for carriageway surfacing, weather permitting".
