Turn back the clock - it's 1968 and a strike is about to start at car giant Ford's Dagenham plant.

A working-class mother and machinist is about to lead a strike against Ford as Rita O'Grady and her female co-workers are paid less than the men doing the same job.

What happens next is a fight for equal pay and three local women and a child are playing starring roles in Crewe Amateur Musicals Society's (CAMS) production of 'Made in Dagenham' which goes on stage next month (March).

Primary teacher, Natasha Griffiths (32) from Spencer Close in Alsager is playing the lead role of Rita O'Grady.

Natasha, who has a degree in acting, auditioned for the show about six months ago and it will be her first production with CAMS.

"It's a brilliant show and has so many funny bits," said Natasha. "Women have come a long way since the 1960s and the fight for equality.

"It looks at the fight for equal pay and I'm proud to be playing the leading role."

Fellow teacher Victoria Hammond, 42, who also lives in Alsager plays the part of the wife of the owner of the Ford Dagenham plant, Lisa Hopkins.

Victoria said: "It's a great production and we're looking forward to going on stage. It such an important part of history for women and equaly rights. "

And the production is even more important for Victoria, who trained in performing arts before becoming a teacher, as her seven-year-old daughter Delilah is also performing in it.

"She's really excited and we're thrilled that she's taking part," said Victoria. "It's a great show and we've all put so much time and effort into it."

Rode Heath's Lisa Humphries, 56, is also taking a major part in the production, playing the part of shop steward Connie.

"When I turned 50 I decided I wanted a new challenge and joined CAMS. I've always loved singing. This will be my third show and we all can't wait to get on stage."

'Made in Dagenham' is on stage at Crewe Lyceum from March 5th - March 8th. Tickets can be booked through this link here
