One fire engine from Alsager and the rapid response unit from the town went to a smoke logged house in Church Lawton.

Cooking left unattended is thought to have caused the incident at 6.42 m last night (Sunday) in Barwood Avenue.

A spokeserson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure fan to ventilate the property. This is believed to have been caused by cooking left unattended."
