Preparations are starting for an annual event which brings all corners of the community together in Alsager.

The One World Festival, organised by Alsager Ladies Circle, takes place once a year and year the theme is 'One Earth, One Family, One Future'.

The event takes place at Alsager Civic on Saturday, October 5th from 9.30 am until 1 pm. The aim has been to build relationships of mutual respect that cross boundaries, reaching out to all members of the community.

Local event are run to celebrate the richness and diversity of cultures in the community, challenging whatever keeps barriers intact.

A spokesperson said: "We also aim to look at problems common to all such as reducing plastic use and promoting recycling and last year supported a number of local schools to set up recycling bins and collections.

"Our focus this year is a whole community celebration event. Our One World event wll include a number of 'national' stall holders who are central its success - some of whom have been with the event for years.

"They help us celebrate and understand the diversity of cultures in Alsager and bring food and items from their countries to the festival and talk to attendees about their country and culture.

"The local schools have also been key stakeholders and over the recent years all local primary schools and the high school have had some involvement- either participating in workshops, via assemblies or performing at the festival itself.

"This year we are looking forward to being joined on the stage by the majority of our local primary schools along with Brownies and Alsager Community Choir."

This year we hare being joined by a range of organisations including, but not limited to, Christ Church Messy Church, Guides and Brownies, ANSA, local primary school choirs, Fair Trade, national stall holders, Cheshire Wildlife trust, Alsager Urban Initiative, Alsager Community Support, Hassall Green Nature Reserve and local charities such as Tools with a Mission. Our ever popular 'henna girls' will also be there."

Alsager Ladies Circle took over the delivery of the event back in 2010 and it has gone from strength to strength and retained its appeal over the years.
