Polling stations are closed and voters wait to hear results of local elections

Polling stations in Alsager closed at 10 pm last night and voters are waiting to hear the results of the local elections.

Voters were choosing candidates for Cheshire East Council.

Counting for Cheshire East Council begins this afternoon (Friday) and results are due out later today.

This is the list of Alsager candidates who stood in the Cheshire East Council election yesterday:

Alsager: Brian Drake (Labour); Rod Fletcher (Liberal Democrats); Reg Kain (Liberal Democrats); Richard McCarthy (Green Party); Hilary Robinson (Green Party); Michael Unett (Labour); Wendy Whittaker-Large (Conservative); Sam Worthington (Conservative).

Alsager didn't have elections for its town council, as just 11 candidates put themselves forward for the 15 seats on Alsager Town Council.

Alsager Nub News will update you on the results later today (Friday) as they happen.
