Do you know the names behind some of the smiley faces you meet when you take your pets to Pets4Vets in Alsager and do you know who is who?
Registered Veterinary Nurses are highly qualified professionals who have gained academic and practical qualifications and are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Registered Veterinary Nurses can help to manage long-term conditions such as arthritis, perform minor procedures, provide guidance and advice and offer services such as checking your pet's weight and dental checks.
At Vets for Pets Alsager, the veterinary nurse team is led by practice owner and Head Veterinary Nurse Carl May. Carl is supported by Registered Veterinary Nurses Helen and Becks, and Student Veterinary Nurse Daetona.
Carl has always had a love for animals and started his journey at age 14 with a work experience placement in a veterinary practice as we revealed in our article here
In 1996, he qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and worked in a variety of practices, which included a referral hospital and emergency out of hours clinic.
In 2016 decided to pursue a new challenge and opened Vets for Pets Alsager.
Helen has a wide range of experience in small animal practice, including her previous role as a Head Nurse with responsibility for three practices.
She enjoys all aspects of nursing but has a keen interest in nurse clinics, inpatient care and anaesthesia. Helen is passionate about pets and is kept busy at home with her Springer Spaniel Oakley and her two children.
Becks has over 10 years of experience in the veterinary industry, having worked in clinical care and on reception providing client care. She joined Vets for Pets Alsager in 2022 to complete her final year of nurse training. Becks lives with her daughter and their menagerie of pets which includes dogs and guinea pigs.
Daetona is Vets for Pets Alsager's Student Veterinary Nurse and is on the journey to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. She supports the wider nursing team with clinical care. At home she is kept busy with her two sons, her two dogs and two cats.
