Alsager to get the world's first pothole museum after its epic crater-like roads hit the headlines

It's official - Alsager is to be the home of the world's first pothole museum!

The friendly town hit the headlines after local MP, Sarah Russell, brought the annoying subject of potholes up in the House of Commons.

She revealed how Lawton Road was home to a road surface like no other and needed some help to get back on the road to recovery.

One resident described it as something like a 'moon-like surface' complete with craters as big as flying saucers which motorists needed a Lunar Roving Vehicle, like the one which landed on the moon, to navigate.

Cheshire East stepped in and Lawton Road was finally resurfaced earlier this year but the dreaded subject made a comeback in another part of the town recently with one local resident repairing the potholes himself.

"'It's madness,' said one resident. 'We've even got a local garage opening up calling itself 'Tyres go Bust' to cope with the number of vehicles needing repairs.'"

"There are burst tyres all over the roads and it will only get worse. I saw one fisherman dangling a fishing rod into a gigantic pothole after the recent rain and he found a trout!

"I've even heard they're using our roads to film the next Star Wars movie. It's getting a little out of hand."

But where will the Pothole Museum be based?

The search is on now to find a suitable location with suggestions being made to build a floating island in the middle of The Mere.

Residents say this would provide local employment with a ferry service set up to get visitors to the island and another suggestion to build a road across!

Maybe we can drop the act now - happy April Fool's! Yes, we're just kidding. There isn't going to be a Pothole Museum although we do have a pothole problem - like the rest of Cheshire.

Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed our jolly jape.

We don't need resident's council tax money being slent on a museum we need our roads in good condition all around Alsager especially the journey to and from Crewe. Beautiful scenery, shame that your cars suspension has to pay for the shocking state of the B road between Alsager and Crewe!!!!!
