The NHS is planning to use a site in Alsager to deliver the Covid-19 vaccine to residents from five towns.

The Covid-19 vaccination rollout began earlier this week and for Alsager residents, they will fall under an area called SMASH - Sandbach, Middlewich, Alsager, Scholar Green and Haslington.

The GP practices within these five areas are working together to deliver the Covid-19 vaccine.

Denise Smith, who is the SMASH PCN Practice Manager Lead, has announced that the NHS are planning two sites to deliver the vaccine - one in Middlewich and one in Alsager.

The addresses for the two sites are yet to be confirmed.

Ms Smith, who is also the Practice Manager at Merepark Medical Centre, said: "We will be following government guidance on who to invite in first, as we are expecting limited supplies to begin with.

"We will invite people in accordance with government guidance - largely determined by age - please do not overload the phone system with questions or trying to book - it will be invite only to begin with."

Ms Smith confirmed that local GP practices are expecting "limited supplies" of the vaccine prior to Christmas, which will be targeted at the 80-year-olds and over first.

If residents are interested in being a marshal and directing people around at the sites or if you are trained as a vaccinator, you can volunteer by emailing [email protected]

Ms Smith told Nub News that she has been "overwhelmed with the response and support from the community".
