An Alsager restaurant which was forced to close after a road accident is back up and running and its owners have praised the local community.

Ey Up Duck in Crewe Road has been closed for several weeks after a Range Rover collided with a HGV and ploughed into the back of the restaurant.

The gas supply had to be cut off and the back wall of the popular restaurant had to be rebuilt before the restaurant could reopen.

A nearby eaterie held a charity event and a crowdfunding appeal was launched to help owners, Dave and Elizabeth Glendenning.

But now the Glendennings are firmly back open and say when they get properly sorted, they will be donating money to charities in Alsager.

"We felt completely helpless when this happened and we have unfortunately missed two of the biggest events, the carnival and music festival.

"However we're really happy to be back open and the response has been fantastic.

"The time closed gave us chance to plan a new schedule and we have introduced a number of new things, including some offers during the week.

"We know people are really going to struggle this winter and we want to do something to help.

"I want to talk to local food banks and see how we can help. We will give back to local charities and help the town.

"We're very grateful for everyone who helped us. Once the insurance comes through we will be looking at doing something for local charities."

Alsager Nub News told last month how Dave's wife, Elizabeth, heard a huge bang as a vehicle ploughed its way into the back of the building, damaging brickwork and shaking the building.
