Alsager firefighters help tackle a major fire which destroyed two homes

Firefighters from Alsager and Middlewich were among those called out to fight a major blaze in the area last night (Sunday).
Eleven fire engines including one from Alsager and another from Middlewich went to the fire in Station Road, Mow Cop at 5.34 pm.
The aerial ladder platform from Lymm, the water bowser from Crewe and two fire engines from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were at the blaze which destroyed two detached bungalows.
Police closed Station Road and cordons were set up.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said today: "As a result of the fire, around 20 neighbouring properties may experience power outages due to the electrical isolation of the affected properties.
"Utility companies are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We have been told that phone lines in the area are not affected."
