Triton Ladies' 1s 6 Winnington Park Ladies' 2s 1
Hockey returned to Cheshire on Saturday and for the Ladies' 1s it was in some style in the rescheduled leagues.
Triton opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes following good close control and a smart finish from Hannah Spears.
There was some excellent link up play between skipper Tash Griffiths and Lucy Salter that led to Vicki Bennion adding a second shortly afterwards.
However, Winnington fought back, Emily Statham made some smart saves but could do nothing as the visitors pulled a goal back.
The home team's response was immediate as Becky Shaw restored the team's two goal advantage.
Sorcha O'Brien, Sophie Stanley, Sarah Varley and Ella Prior in the Triton defence pressed high up the pitch to ensure that a second fight back from the visitors wasn't on the cards.
The second half was mostly Triton as they attacked with real purpose. Bennion added a fourth goal before Lucy Salter scored a well-deserved fifth.
Darcey Pawesowski had her best game of the season playing brilliantly on the wing. Lottie Wade played a key role in the middle keeping the ball high with some excellent hits.
There was a welcome return for Izzy Lewis who provided some extra pace in midfield.
Player of the match Bennion completed her hat-trick and scoring with the team's sixth goal but there were other chances that went begging.
But all in all, this was an excellent performance for the team after its six-week break.
Crewe Vagrants Ladies' 4s 2 Triton Ladies' 2s 2
The Ladies' 2s also served up some terrific entertainment in the late game under the lights at Crewe Vagrants. The opening exchanges were even with both teams having good spells.
The home team took the lead 5 minutes from the break when a counter attack found Triton short at the back.
But Triton responded almost immediately when skipper and player of the match Amanda Woolley struck an excellent shot into the far corner.
Triton had the better of the second half with Woolley, Angelica Almeida and Georgie Krippner going close to scoring.
Triton grabbed the lead with 15 minutes to go as it converted a penalty corner.
Vagrants counter attacked but there was some excellent defending by Karen Gooch and Lindsey Williams to keep the home side at bay. But as Triton tired Vagrants pressured its goal and grabbed an equaliser late in the game.
Triton Men's 1s 2 Triton Men's 2s 1
With no fixture scheduled for the teams, the Men's 1 and 2s took the opportunity to play a friendly game to get back on the pitch after a five-week break.
The game was surprisingly even but skipper Jack Newell and Martin Gregory netted in the second half for the 1s.
