After making it through to a cup final for a third consecutive season, AFC Alsager were also given an unlikely boost in their quest for the league title.

The Swans overcame a stern test at Redgate Clayton last night (Wednesday, 19th May) and goals from Jordan Rigby and Lucas Baker secured a 2-0 semi-final win.

AFC Alsager will go into the League Challenge Cup Final against Hanley Town Reserves as heavy favourites.

The final will be played at Hanley Town Football Club on Monday 31st May (bank holiday). Kick-off is 7.30pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

Despite being in semi-final action, the club would have also been casting their eye over title rivals Foley Meir's game in hand, which also took place last night.

Foley Meir needed a win to go into the last game of the season top of the pile, but they squandered a 2-1 half-time lead to draw 3-3 with Silverdale Athletic.

It all now boils down to Saturday, if the Swans win away to Buxton, they are champions, it's as simple as that.
