AFC Alsager go top of the pile after beating Foley Meir

By Tom Avery 12th Oct 2020

AFC Alsager went top of the Men Unite Premier Division after ousting Foley Meir 3-2 in a clash of the early pacesetters.

The Swans inflicted a first defeat of the season and leapfrogged Foley Meir, who came into Saturday's clash with a 100 percent start to the league campaign.

Playing in front of a big crowd at the Alsager Sports Hub, the Swans took an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Harry Livingstone and Lucas Baker.

The visitors reduced the deficit before half-time and grew into the game in the second half.

However, Jordan Rigby restored the hosts' two goal lead before Foley set up a nervy finish with a late goal.

The Swans defended well to see the game out and clinch a crucial three points.

AFC Alsager travel to fourth place Redgate Clayton on Saturday.
