Young hockey players get a boost - thanks to the former Alsager Partnership

Young hockey players have been given a boost – thanks to the former Alsager Partnership. 

The partnership gave Alsager-based Triton Hockey Club £1,000 before it closed last year. 

And now the hockey club, who play home matches at Alsager Sports Hub, has shown former partnership chair, Arthur Harding and former treasurer, John Poulson, the equipment in action. 

A spokesperson from the hockey club said: "The equipment purchased were Samba mini goals, small hockey sticks and colourful bibs and balls all of which will benefit the five- to eight-year-old age group." 

Triton Hockey Club, who attract members from Cheshire, Staffordshire and beyond, was formed in 2000 when Sandbach, Alsager and Kidsgrove hockey clubs joined forces. Many of their junior players progress to county squads. 

They play home matches at Alsager Sports Hub and then visit Alsager Cricket Club after matches. Currently they have have three mens teams and two ladies teams who represent the club in the Northwest Hockey Leagues. 

Triton Hockey Club is looking to expand the Saturday morning junior training group by encouraging participation by reaching out to local schools and organising taster sessions.
