An Alsager councillor hopes to have raised around £200 today (Wednesday) with a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan.

The official date for this year's World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Friday (September 30th) but Councillor June Buckley held her annual event today at Alsager Civic – to give other Macmillan supporters chance to hold theirs on the day.

A packed room enjoyed coffee donated by Home & Coffee Studio in Alsager and delicious cakes provided by a variety of people.

Cllr Buckley, who is a district councillor for Alsager as well as a town councillor, says Macmillian is a cause close to her heart.

"Several close friends have died from cancer. I have been holding this event since 2008 and am delighted that it took place again this year.

"I would like to thank everyone who has donated things for the morning and for those who have made donations."
