Charity shop urgently needs volunteers to help change lives of brain injury survivors
An Alsager charity shop has issued an SOS for more volunteers to help it continue its vital work supporting brain injury survivors and their loved ones.
National brain injury charity, Headway, has a shop in Alsager and is looking forr friendly people to volunteer their time in several ways.
The shop, in Sandbach Road South, needs volunteers to greet and serve customers, sort donations and ensure the shop floor remains tidy and welcoming.
Headway head of retail, David Bryne, said: "Our Headway shops are very busy, so we desperately need more kind, positive people to join our much-valued teams.
"No experience is necessary, and we would be really happy to provide volunteers with training and support."
Every year, around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury - that's one every 90 seconds.
Brain injuries can be sustained in several ways, including as a result of a stroke, brain tumour or accident.
Acquired brain injury is an umbrella term for any injury to the brain sustained since birth, excluding neurodegenerative conditions.
The brain controls everything we do and a brain injury can affect every aspect of who we are from physical to cognitive, emotional and behavioural.
The Alsager shop has a low turnover of staff as we revealed here when we spoke to the manager a while back.
To find out more about volunteering call the shop directly on 01270 873 491 or pop in and see the team at 68 Sandbach Road South, Alsager.
