Wanted: a loving-home to take on the care of two loved-up rabbits!
Augustus and Muffin, two beautiful bunnies, are currently being fostered in Alsager and the RSPCA is now looking for a long-term home.
They are rarely a few feet away from each other and will provide hours of love for the right home.
Augustus (Gus for short), is quite small like a Mini Rex and was adopted and bonded back in 2018 but his partner has since died.
He was 'bonded' with Muffin from another branch of the RSPCA so he was no longer bereaved.
An RSPCA spokesperson said: "The owners already had plans to move and do not want to continue with rabbit ownership, so they are looking for a new home. We are rehoming them directly from their current home.
"Prior to this Gus had a terrible life, along with 50 other rabbits, all with no food or water, living in filthy conditions. It's no wonder he was so frightened of everything way back when.
"Muffin was advertised on social media and the other branch stepped in because of the conditions she was kept in. They are neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. They need a young child and a dog-free home.
"They are both friendly and curious, they'll come sprinting across the garden if they think you've got a small treat for them!
"Muffin is happy to be stroked but Gus really only likes you to stroke his nose. Neither of them digs, although Muffin is very good at pruning.
"They live free range in the day and love sitting in the sun, pottering around and nibbling the lawn, but come into their wooden run very happily in the evening as they know dinner is in there."
The RSPCA is looking for a home with the following:
· a minimum 6ft shed/house or 6 x 2 x 2 hutch with minimum 60 sq. feet of secure covered floor space, normally a run and it has to be 3ft in height attached securely to the rabbits house
· with ideally but not mandatory, the freedom to a secure garden/alternative area for stimulation; exercise, space and enrichment is most important
· read this information on suitable accommodation http://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-housing/why-hutch-not-enough/
Anyone interested in providing a home for Augustus and Muffin should contact the Rehoming Co-ordinator on [email protected] or leave a message on 07846 539500
