The manager of Alsager's Thirteen Club has confirmed he will be holding a minute's silence tomorrow as a mark of respect in memory of the iconic Bat Out of Hell singer Meat Loaf who has died.

A packed "Covid friendly" sell-out audience of 64 is due to hear the legendary Meat Loaf impersonator, Matt Shaw, perform his amazing "Meat Loaf and Anthems Show" at 7.30 pm at the Cedar Avenue venue.

But it was announced today (Friday) that the legendary American singer and actor, real name Michael Lee Aday aka Meat Loaf, has died at the age of 74 with his wife at his side.

Alsager Nub News told here. how a top Meat Loaf tribute act was appearing in Alsager on Saturday night.

Now the event will be event more of a tribute to Meat Loaf than ever before as the artist has just died after selling more than 100 million albums.

Thirteen Club manager and secretary, Steve Johnson told Alsager Nub News: "I just couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning.

"It's an awful thing. The least we can do is have a minute's silence at the beginning in respect of him.

"We'll turn it into a party for him and make it more of a tribute than it was already going to be.

"It's a sell-out and. It's still going ahead but the timing isn't great. It's just one of those things."

Matt Shaw appeared on ITV's Stars in their eyes and at the age of 17 became the highest scoring Meat Loaf impersonator before a live audience of 14 Million in December 2000.

Matt has performed all over the UK and Europe with his show and is looking forward to tomorrow's gig although he says he's "heartbroken".

A post on Matt's Facebook page today said: "Heartbroken. The best there was and the best there ever will be. Rest in peace."
