Have you had a stroke or do you know anyone who has?

A new group is starting in Alsager for stroke survivors and they are urging anyone in this category to go along.

The Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Group will meet weekly at the 13 Club on Thursday mornings from 10.30 am until 12noon and anyone is welcome to attend.

A spokesperson said: "We're a friendly group of stroke survivors and carers who get together to chat and get involved in activities to help to improve our speech and language skills."

The Alsager group will meet weekly in six week blocks and the cost is £2 per session (including tea, coffee and biscuits) or £10 for all six weeks (one week free).

The first session takes place on Thursday May 5th and the Alsager Partnership say they are pleased to be associated with this new important venture for Alsager people.

In Crewe, a Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group is celebrating its fourth anniversary this year - expanding to a new location next month.

The Group is based at Union Street Baptist Church on Union Street in Crewe (Tuesdays, 11am), helping stroke survivors in Cheshire East and surrounding areas with speech, language and communication difficulties.

It also aims to help the stroke survivors gain more contact with others, clearing them of their social isolation in a friendly and relaxed setting.

A stroke is a serious life-threatening medical condition that happens when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off.
