Self-taught artist Ged Mitchell bids farewell to Alsager gallery
By Deborah Bowyer 26th Aug 2026
A skilled artist with a studio in Alsager has announced he is closing his gallery.
Ged Mitchell's 'The Artist's Studio' is sadly closing 'The Artists Studio' in Crewe Road next weekend. (5 September).
Ged, who lives in Sandbach where some of his scenes are painted, has been in the business 40 years, 12 of which at his studio in Crewe Road.
He said on Social Media: "We are open by appointment only, apart from the final day, when I will be there from 10am, so call in for a look round. No obligation. To make an appointment, message me."
His Facebook page is here .

Ged, a self-taught artist, specialises in acrylics and water colours and paints from memory but admits he gets inspiration from some nearby Sandbach which is where he lives.

The Alsager premises was Ged's third gallery. He has had galleries in Wheelock, Sandbach before moving on to Alsager.
A keen fisherman as well as a musician, Ged enjoys fishing in The Dingle fishing lake and Peggy's Pool in Sandbach, so much so one of his paintings features the latter.
