Storm Chandra brings high winds and rain causing difficult driving conditions

High winds and rain have caused havoc in Alsager and surrounding areas as Storm Chandra moves through the area.
Driving conditions earlier today (Tuesday) were particularly bad with numerous motorists delayed on their motorning commute on Crewe Road where a fallen tree near Spar Alsager and was blocked the road.
Cheshire Police say they were aware of a number of reports of fallen trees across the county as a result of storm Chandra and are urging motorists to check for any road closures before travelling.
Elsewhere, high winds have brought down power cables with house in outlying areas left without power for a while.
At 4am today (Tuesday) police were called to reports of a collision on Congleton Road between Rode Heath and Gawsworth.
A Cheshire police spokesperson said: "The incident involved a grey Peogeot 308 which had collided with a tree. There were no reports of any injuries, and the scene was passed to Highways."
The Met Office has issued to Amber weather warnings across the UK and issued the following advice to motorists driving in strong winds:
- Drive slowly to minimise the impact of wind gusts
- Be aware of high sided vehicles/caravans on more exposed roads
- Be cautious overtaking high sided vehicles/caravans
- Make sure you hold the steering wheel firmly
- Give cyclists, motorcyclists, lorries and buses more room than usual
