Two local women with a passion for putting others first are taking on a daring skydive to help send 75 children on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Florida.

Katie Westwick and Jodi Corbishley visit Lovett Care's Twyford House Care Home in Alsager regularly as part of their roles as head of marketing and regional manager.

People are at the heart of everything they do and in August, they are taking on a challenge to raise money to send around a group of children from across the north of the UK to America.

Jodi and Katie are joining the senior leadership team from Newcastle-under-Lyme Lovett Care to support Destination Florida, a charity that creates life-changing experiences for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.

Every two years, the charity organises a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Florida for around 75 children from across the North of the UK, giving them the opportunity to make unforgettable memories, build confidence and enjoy experiences they may never otherwise have.

On 13 August, Katie will join colleagues to take to the skies for the charity skydive at Black Knights Skydiving Centre in Lancaster.

She said: "For some of us, jumping out of a plane is well outside our comfort zone, but it's nothing compared to the challenges these children and their families face every day.

"Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Destination Florida continue creating unforgettable experiences for children and provide vital support for the families who love and care for them."

Lovett Care has pledged to raise £5,000 to support this cause and has also planned other fundraising activities throughout the year.

Katie, who has worked at Lovett Care for nearly two years and was recently appointed to head of marketing, maintains the Lovett ethic of putting people at the heart of all she does and thoroughly enjoys her role

She said: "Choosing a care home is one of the biggest decisions a family can make, and my role goes beyond just marketing our homes.

"My priority is to help people feel informed whilst being reassured and confident from that very first interaction."
