A popular entertainment venue in Alsager is offering community groups and businesses the chance to hire the venue for a fraction of the price.

Alsager Civic in Lawton Road has a large room plus a stage where various events from comedy nights to live music and the weekly market is held.

Now the venue is being offered during the weekday evenings on a regular basis for six months with a 50 per cent discount.

"It's a chance to establish your client base, raise awareness of offerings, run free trial lessons and attract a larger client base," said a spokesperson from Alsager Civic.

Various groups already hire the venue on a regular basis in the evenings such as Strictly Latin Dance fit and the Modern Sequence Dance Club.

Mark Farrugia who runs his popular "Strictly Latin Dance Fit/Fit steps" classes on Monday nights said: "It's a central location and an excellent venue for my dance classes.

"The room is bright and airy and perfect for my group many of whom have commented how great the room is."

Mark's Monday class is a big hit with local dancers, many of whom listened to him when he appeared on Claudia Winkleman's radio show about Strictly.

Another local group, Alsager Animals in Need, hold a monthly coffee morning there on Saturdays – something they have done for the last 20 years.

"The staff are excellent and extremely helpful. They will do anything for us," said Hilary Baxter from Alsager Animals in Need.

"There's a foyer which means people can queue up inside and there's the stage which is useful if we need to showcase anything."
