The signs are up and motorists look happy to be able to park for free in part of Fairview car park after a deal wwas struck between Asda and Cheshire East Clouncil.

Part of the car park is marked off saying "'maximum stay two houjrs free parking beyond this point".

We told here how the supermarket chain had announced that after "several months" of negotiations the short stay car park at Fairview would be free for motorists for two hours from June 30th.

ANPR cameras will be installed to monitor the two hour stay and Asda says the deal has been struck not just to benefit supermarket customers but also help local small businesses.

The very top of the car park, near to the library is staying as pay and display (long stay) and this will be enforced by Cheshire East Council.

The rest of the carpark and also the small car park, opposite Dominoes/vets, will be two hours free parking for everyone.
