The Department for Education's Curriculum and Assessment Review (CAR) is published today (Wednesday) and a school near Alsager for children with autism has welcomed the proposals.

The review, which can be read here will shape the learning experience of millions of students and influence how families engage with education for years to come.

It marks the first major overhaul of the curriculum in over a decade, making it a pivotal moment for education in England.

The review includes proposals to ensure that the curriculum better meets the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), which have been welcomed by Liberty Academy Trust, which has a school in Church Lawton near Alsager.

Liberty Academy Trust is proud to be at the forefront of SEND education. Among the trust's flagship initiatives is its Quality of Life framework, which supports communication, independence, and personal development, helping learners thrive academically and socially.

This practical, personalised approach empowers students to achieve real progress while celebrating their individual strengths.

Nic Crossley, CEO of Liberty Academy Trust, said: "At Liberty Academy Trust, we welcome the Review's call for a curriculum that is broad, balanced, and built around the diverse strengths of all learners, particularly those with SEND and neurodivergent profiles. This review validates the work our teams have been doing for years."

Principal of Church Lawton School, Paul Scales, said: "We are thrilled to see a national focus on inclusion and personalised learning.

"Every child at Church Lawton has unique strengths, and this review reinforces the approach we take every day - helping them communicate, learn, and grow in a supportive environment.

"We look forward to continuing this work and sharing what we've learned with other schools."

Church Lawton School provides personalised learning for autistic children, helping them develop communication skills, independence, and academic progress in a nurturing environment.
