A former marketing and communications manager who gave up her job to write books full-time is hoping true love is in the air for on-line romance seekers this Valentine's Day.

Mandy Byatt took the plunge herself five years ago and met her partner on the on-line dating site, Plenty of Fish, but sadly the three characters in her debut novel, "Just Another Liar" aren't as lucky. One even ends up dead!

The psychological thriller tells the story of three women each looking for a happy ending and each seduced by the same man on-line – the elusive and suave, David Kingfisher.

When the women realise the slippery character has been in touch with all three when they meet up and they form a plan to seek their revenge on the compulsive liar.

Mandy, who lives in Rode Heath and went to Biddulph High School, has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia plus a degree in Marketing and German.

Shortlisted in the Gransnet/HQ novel competition and Woman & Home short story competition as well as longlisted in the HWA/Sharpe Books Unpublished Novel Award and Orange Pathé screenwriting competition, Mandy was winner of a Radio 5 Live monologue competition.

She spent about a year-and-a-half writing the book and has already nearly finished her next book after signing a two-year publishing deal.

Mandy has always enjoyed writing, penning her prose alongside her full-time job for a ceramics and materials research company which she gave up to pursue writing full-time.

She said: "It's something I've always enjoyed doing. The plot just came to me and has lots of twists and tales.

"It's based on internet dating and is set in a suburb of Manchester," says Mandy who wants to keep potential readers in suspense about the rest of the story.

The legendary character, David Kingfisher, gets to know the three separate women who all think he is the answer to their problems.

There's only one problem – they've only met him on-line and sadly as they each search for their happy ending one ends up dead!

Mandy says from her own experience of on-line dating and for thousands of others it is however very different.

"I took the plunge five years ago after a failed marriage and found my partner.

"The book shouldn't put people off on-line dating as for so many it does have a happy ending."

"Just Another Liar" is and is available in paperback, e book and audio book and is by Avon, a commercial fiction division.
