It's Alsager Carnival this weekend and Alsager Round Table, the group behind the carnival, has announced the road closures in place for the day.

The event kicks off with the annual parade through town to Milton Park and road closures are in place from 11.30am until 1.30pm on Saturday (6 June).

The theme for this year's event is 'Our World' and groups and organisations in the town will be dressing up with the occasion which this year includes prizes up for grabs for the first three places.

First place will receive £250, second place £150 and third place £100. Every year, the event raises hundreds of pounds for various groups and charities in the town.

The parade. as usual, will finish in Milton Park where a crowd gathered to take part in the afternoon's fun which included an array of stalls. There will be a Punch and Judy Show, dance presentations and a a tug of war.

The following roads have closures: Lawton Road - Shady Grove, Sandbach Road North to Bank Corner to Lodge Road, Lodge Road in its entirety, Church Road to Lodge Road and Sandbach Road Suth, Chancery Lane and Church Road by Christ Church and The Gables open but with no through routes where they join the affected roads.

Alsager Round Table are apologising ahead for the road closures. A spokesperson said: "Whilst we aim to minimise disruption, its inevitable that there will be some inconvenience and we thank people for their patience."
