Rail travellers in Alsager faced another day of disruption as more strikes hit the train network.

ASLEF, who largely represent train drivers, will staged another strike today (October 4th).

National Rail said: "Strike action by the ASLEF Union is taking place today. In addition, they have also announced an overtime ban across the UK rail network from Monday 2th to Friday 6th October."

"When full strike action is taking place this is likely to result in little or no services across large areas of the network.

"Services are also likely to be disrupted and start later on the day immediately following a full strike day. Passengers are warned to expect significant disruption and advised to plan ahead and check before you travel."

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: "We apologise in advance for the significant disruption and inconvenience this action by ASLEF will cause to our customers.

"We hope to see a resolution to this issue in the near future and an end to the disruption these strikes cause."

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
