Organisers of Pride in Alsager are celebrating after crowds of people turned out for the day-long celebration of activities this weekend.

Many town centre shops had decked out their windows in all colours of the rain with balloons and streamers to join in the event.

Dozens of people turned out to take part in the group's first flash mob parade through the town on Saturday with music, dancing and wave rainbows.

The group started near the Spar shop in Crewe Road, walking down Ashmore's Lane, along Station Road and finishing up at Milton Park where members had a picnic.

The celebrations continued into the night with a packed evening of entertainment - "Pride at Night" – at Alsager Social Club which included the Double Denim Company, Hayley Elliott, Slugs Ate My Parents and Ruby Von-Trappe and a raffle.

Secretary of Pride in Alsager, Michael Unett, Alsager Town Council chair said: "We have had a very good response.

"We reached out to parts of the community whom wouldn't normally see us."

Fellow committee member and press officer,Wendy Campbell, said: "It just shows how important this is to people and there is a bright future."

Committee members meet monthly and after the success of this event they are planning to make it an annual event.
