They are also used to display films and pictures of those getting married, baptised, or of family memories during funerals.
.The church has a reputation for openness and service to the community. All sorts of community groups are hosted in the church rooms and every Thursday the church hosts a free dinner hub which provides food and welcome to anyone in the community.
Rev Rob Hilton, church minister said "We are proud of being a church that serves our community, people feel welcome and appreciate belonging to Wesley Place in many ways.
"This theft is an inconvenience and we feel a sense of intrusion and invasion, we will however be praying for all those involved. It won't stop our determination to continue to be open and serve the people of Alsager.
"Their loss is a huge inconvenience not only to the church congregation but the community who use the church on these occasions too - times of celebration, and remembrance.
"We live in a visual and digital age and the church will now need to return to books and printed sheets for the time being. The theft was recorded on CCTV and the police have been informed."
