Plans submitted for eight homes in family garden in Alsager
Plans have been submitted to build eight five-bedroom homes in a family garden in Alsager.
Brenda and Ian Wilson want to build the houses in the garden of 36 Nursery Road.
A design and access statement submitted with the planning application states: "The site has been used as a family garden since the owners acquired the property in 1995.
"The site consists of a 0.7 ha grassed field that includes several outbuildings that were constructed under permitted development rights."
The planning document states the proposed development would consist of eight high quality five-bed dwellings which will be 'spacious providing open-plan living areas, roomy sleeping quarters, generously sized gardens, an integral garage and a driveway'.
The proposed development is expected to impact 40 trees and the planning document says new trees will be planted to offset the removal if required.
At the time of writing one objection has been sent to Cheshire East Council from a resident on William Higgins Close.
The objector states: "The country is supposed to be providing houses for young people trying to get on to the housing market, not expensive five-bedroom houses that we already have a plethora of.
"This plan is simply a money making plan and therefore offers no benefit to the housing crisis by providing first-time buyers an opportunity to purchase a house. Alsager is saturated with large and expensive houses that are far beyond the reach of most people's budget."
He also says the area currently provides 'a pleasant and increasingly rare bit of countryside in an ever expanding part of Alsager'.
The application, number 23/1570C, can be viewed on the planning portal on the Cheshire East Council website.
The closing date for comments is May 31 and the application is to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
