Internal work at Alsager's Starbucks new drive-thru is well underway with an opening date of next month likely to be confirmed.

Cheshire East's planners gave approval for the application 24/2767C here in November last year and now workmen have been spotted on the site - on the former Twyford Bathrooms site off Linley Lane.

The signs are up and the outside of the drive-thru looks like it's completed and now contractors have been spotted working on the inside.

No date has been given for when it will open but it's expected the long awaitednew drive-thru could be open sometime next month (September)

The new Sainsbury's superstore on the same site opened in February this year as we revealed here . Sainsbury's bosses said then there would be a delay of around six months for the new Starbucks to open

An earlier planning statement from Edgeplan and submitted with the application previlously, stated: "The opening times will be from 6am-11pm. This is consistent with the opening times of the Sainsbury's store."

"It is expected that the vast majority of vehicular trips to the coffee shop would consist of supermarket customers that call in as part of a shopping trip, or vehicles passing the site on Linley Lane calling in as part of a wider journey."
