A notorious stretch of road in Alsager which is so badly damaged with potholes and an uneven surface that it was discussed in Parliament is one step closer to being resurfaced.
White markings have appeared on parts of Lawton Road and Alsager councillor, Rod Fletcher, who has campaigned strenguously to get the road repaired, is hopeful work is imminent.
Cheshire East Council said previously here that further ground investigations were required planned to be undertaken in quarter three (October/November/December) with a programmed date to be confirmed.
Cllr Fletcher, a Cheshire East councillor, said: "I have been advised that the part of Lawton Road between Wesley Place and Bank Corner will be resurfaced by conventional means before Christmas, so with the confirmation below that that work in imminent, I am keeping my fingers crossed."
"We are due to carry out resurfacing works on Lawton Road and then the lining will be replaced on both sections at the same time to reduce disruption and the amount of TM required," cllr Fletcher was told in an email from Cheshire East.

Residents have complained vigorously about the state of Lawton Road in the centre of Alsager so much so that local MP, Sarah Russell raised the subject in the House of Commons.
She said then: "It's a major part of the town centre and the degeneration of the road is making it look less attractive than otherwise it could.
"Do you agree with me that these are important points not just for the state of our roads but for the whole of the local economy?"
